- The NEH Office of Digital Humanities sponsors a range of institutes (including One Week | One Tool, see below).
- Introductory workshops in digital skills (formerly known as BootCamps) are held at selected THATCamps (see Conferences & Events); fellowships are sometimes available.
- Digital Humanities Workshops – workshops also precede major conferences such as the annual DH conference (see DH2011 for examples) and the MLA Convention (2013’s event featured a “Getting Started in DH” workshop run by DHCommons).
- The Digital Humanities Summer Institute is run annually at University of Victoria, Canada. Offers week-long intensive courses in topics such as digitization, TEI, GIS, data analytics, project management, etc, and is open to scholars at all levels. Scholarships and travel bursaries are available. Read about it in the Chronicle of Higher Ed and on ProfHacker.
- The Digital Humanities Winter Institute, modeled on DHSI, runs for the first time in January 2013 at MITH.
- The first One Week | One Tool took place in 2010 at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, “a unique summer institute, one that aims to teach participants how to build an open source digital tool for humanities scholarship by actually building a tool, from inception to launch, in a week.” (The result: Anthologize, a plug-in for WordPress 3.0 that transforms online content into an electronic book.) The August 2013 “DH Barn Raising” produced Serendip-o-matic, a search engine that extracts key terms from texts to return a serendipitous selection of images from collections for users to make new connections
- The Cultural Heritage Informatics (CHI) Fieldschool focuses on collaborative cultural heritage projects. It is held every other summer (in odd years) in MSU’s Department of Anthropology.

- Students at CUNY Graduate Center should consider the ITP (Interactive Technology & Pedagogy) Certificate program – many CUNY DHers are faculty, alums, or current students there.
